This document describes the content of each analytics section, how metrics are computed, and which shipments are excluded from each calculation.


📦 Current Operational Insights

📍 In Transit

Definition:Shipments currently marked as “In Transit” in shipping status.

🏁 At POD

Definition:
Shipments where the latest event occurred at the Port of Discharge (POD) and:

• There is no next event OR
• The next event is also at the POD

Exclusions:

• Shipments in transit with no POD

⌛ Delayed

Definition:
Shipments currently in Planned or In Transit status where: Initial ETA < Current ETA

Exclusions:

• Shipments in transit or planned with no ETA

🚀 Performance Metrics

✅ % Containers Arrived On or Before Initial ETA

Definition:
Percentage of containers that arrived on time or earlier than their initial Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA).

Formula:

% On-time = (Containers arrived on or before ETA) / (Containers arrived with defined ETA)

Exclusions:

• Shipments that have no recorded arrival (ATA)
• Shipments without initial ETA

📉 Average Delay Over Time

Definition:
Average number of days containers were delayed, grouped by week/month of arrival (ATA).

Formula:

Avg Delay = Average(ATA - Initial ETA) for late shipments only

Inclusions:

• Only shipments with initial ETA
• Only shipments that were late (not on time, not early)

Exclusions:

• Shipments that have no recorded arrival (ATA)
• Shipments without initial ETA

📈 Delay Trend (by # of Shipments Delayed)

Definition:
Trend in the number of delayed shipments over time (week-over-week or month-over-month). Includes percentage variation.

Formula:

Delayed = ATA > Initial ETA
Trend = Count of delayed shipments per period

Exclusions:

• No initial ETA
• No ATA

Date Used:
Arrival date (ATA)

🕒 Average Transit Time Between POL and POD

Definition:
Average time in days from Port of Loading (POL) to Port of Discharge (POD).

Formula:

Transit Time = ATA at POD - ATD from POL

Exclusions (Exclusion 2):

• Missing POL or POD
• Missing departure or arrival dates

🔁 % Containers With a Transshipment Change

Definition:
Rate of containers whose transshipment plan was changed or an additional transshipment was added.

Formula:

% = Shipments with transshipment edits / Total shipments

Exclusions:

• Shipments without data

🌍 Most Common Routes

Definition:
Most frequently used POL → POD routes

Exclusions:

• Shipments without POL or POD

🥇 Top Delayed Routes

Definition:
Routes with the highest volume of delayed shipments.

Delay Defined As:

Delay = ETA Current/Final - ETA Initial

The initial ETA is computed the first time we got an ETA for your shipment.

Exclusions:

• Shipments without POL or POD
• Shipments without ATA
